ISLAMABAD: March 2, 2007. Convener World Minority Alliance in yet another dramatic move on Thursday confined himself in a cell of 6 by 10 width and length and vowed that his protest would continue till his demands could not address.

Also chief organizer of Pakistan Human Rights Party and former federal minister, J, Salik initiated his another self-imposed confinement at his home in Islamabad to register protest against what he alleged government irresponsible behaviour for not taking any notice of his past 40-days protest by sitting on ashes. Salik was found in a cell with a pigeon entangled in wires of his cell and the pigeon was littered with blood, which Salik said that it meant that world religion should respect each other and improve inter-faith harmony instead of spreading hatred and acrimony. Salik expressed regret that unfortunately he was demonstrating for the last 40-days by sitting on ashes but no responsible government representative visited him in connection of his protest. In an uncertain manner, he vowed that his protest would continue until his demands did not address, which include: the government should tender apology to the quake-affectees Kashmiri women who were forcefully expelled from the G-6 flats, development work in G/8-1 sector could not be initiated and enquiry of embezzlement of millions of rupees in electricity bill should be conducted, Gas of slum sector of F-/7-4 has been disconnected, where gas meters should be installed in the area without further delay and Allama Iqbal, Musharraf, Maskeen, Sau quarters, slum I-9 areas and other slum colonies should be regularized. He went on to demand that sacrifices of seven black goats should be offered to escape from ill- prayers from Kashmiris quake-affectees and looming catastrophe. Only Christian sanitary workers were being privatized throughout Pakistan and corruption in Capital Development Authority (CDA) on the name of sales, purchase and double storey should be stopped, he added. He demanded that minority representation in assemblies should be increased adding under current meager representation in the state assemblies was a permanent source of widening gulf between minority and government. Federal secretaries were being given plots on cheaper prices while the poverty-stricken masses should be given residential facilities, he demanded. "I am wearing black dress to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people. I have tied red cloth on my head, which meant that we have let our blood to ensure Kashmir freedom. The cross sign on the cloth represent that peace should return in the world and poor masses in Pakistan should get their due rights," he added. He noted that he would leave no stone unturned to prove baseless and concocted the label of terrorism on the fair name of our country Pakistan.
