Christian woman arrested under blasphemy on a construction material dispute with Muslim storeowner.
Lahore: January 25, 2007. Martha Bibi, a Christian woman, resident in vicinity of village Changa Manga, district Kasur in Punjab province of Pakistan was arrested under blasphemy laws and remanded to judicial lockup here today
According to initial reports submitted by Sohail Johnson, Chief Coordinator SLMP shed light on this new case registered against Christian woman while in same district a case was also registered against another Christian woman in 2006.
In this new blasphemy, Martha got some goods of construction on rent from a shop adjacent to mosque. A dispute took place between Martha and the shopkeeper on the payment.
The shopkeeper blamed her that she passed derogatory remarks against Prophet Mohammad and accused Martha of blasphemy.
First Information Report has been lodged; Martha Bibi has been arrested and sent to jail..
