Church Attempted To Set On Fire in Punjab. SLMP report


Catholic Church in village Nangul Sada Mureed Kay attempted to set on fire on 25th December the Christmas night. Case has been registered and one of three culprits has been arrested by the local police while one has been got bail before arrest. Sharing Life Ministry Pakistan visited the place for fact finding. According to the collected facts on 19th December 2006 about 6:00 pm, three Muslim guys named as Qadoos Ali son of Sabir Shah, Waqas Brolla and Madaser son of Naeem Sheikh were standing out side the Catholic Church and using filthy language. Mass was being held at that time, some respectable and the perish priest stopped them to do so. The Muslim guys threatened the perish priest for dire consequences and went away. On 25th December 2006, the Christmas Day, about 9:00 Christmas mass was held in the church. Church was open for the whole night so that people can pray for their convenient time. Next morning some people went to church to offer their prayers. They saw the Church Pulpit, mats and some other furniture were burned. The rest of the things of church were saved by the grace of God. Perish Priest filed application against Qadoos, Sabir Shah and Waqas Brolla. Police got case registered against the culprits vide First Information Report No. 904 dated 26th December 2006 offence under Section 295/A with police station Mureed Kay. Police arrested Waqas Ali, he is still in police custody. Qadoos got pre-arrest bail while Madasar has been fled away. Sharing Life Ministry Pakistan team also visited police station to meet the Investigation Officer but there only a clerk was present their due to Eid Day of Muslims. The area where this occurrence took place is famous for training institutes of Jihaad. Many militants' organizations exist there that's why Christians live under the pressure of Muslims all around.
