Teraple: November 18, 2006. Mr., Abdul Qayyum is died on November 11, in deporting Center Teraple, Holland where he was under asylum procedure since November 1995

Mr. Abdul belonged to Pakistan from Qadiyani Community. He applied asylum in German in 1992-1993, which was rejected by German Government and then he came to Holland. He did not told any one about German asylum application because he was afraid of SHINGEN law. According to Shingen law if you ask asylum in one shingen country you cannot ask another shingen country for it. He was more then 14 years under the procedure of asylum in Europe. I met with Mr., Qayyum in1997 in AZC (Camp for refugees) Heerenveen and found him very good person. He was silent, honest and lonely person. I never ever met person like him before. He was illiterate .He never share his problems to any one at least 650 people living from 75 countries in heerenveen camp not even with Pakistani. But Mr. Qayyum preferred to live alone .He was worried about his asylum procedure and his family. His life was very miserable. One day I visited him in his room, he was sick from three days and on bed but he did not told any one while I took him to doctor. In winter of 2002-03, he slipped on icy road and his knee was broken but he did not get proper attention and from that day he walked not like normal man. He told to IND (Immigration Authority) in his first interview that his life is in danger in Pakistan or if he returns or send back by IND by force Muslims shall kill him. IND refused his asylum application in 1994-1995. In the beginning of Heerenveen camp, Mr. Qayyum was the resident of this camp and in 2004; he was the last resident of this camp when this camp was closed. I am very disturbed about him having tears in my eyes when I am typing this. Why he was far from his family for14 years? Why he was stranger for his own kids for 14 years? How much he missed his children at the time when he was dying? Who is responsible for his death? How many people like him are living in these circumstances in Europe? According to my knowledge, Geneva Convention Act 1951, was clear about those people .If you are living in any member country under asylum procedure more then three years you can get resident permit on humanitarian bases. Mr. Abdul Qayyum was good character, honest and innocent person. He was not involved I any crime in these 14 years. If IND rejected his asylum application, why he failed to get any positive decision on humanitarian grounds while these European countries are the champions of human rights.
