Four nuns held on preaching, GCIC lodge strong protest with Indian administration
Banglore: June 27, 2006. Mr. Sajan George, President, Global Council of Indian Christians GCIC, has strongly condemned the abduction of four Christian nuns Sr. Maria, Sr. Cristilda, Sr. Hema Felicia and Sr. Reena Francis in Thirupati, Andra pradesh.
In a press release issued by GCIC, it is stated that Hindu radicals under the guise of Parivar abducted four nuns for alleged conversion and religious preaching on 25th June. The sisters were dragged and beaten up by the Hindu radicals before detaining by police in Alipira Police Station.
These sisters belong to Missionaries of Charity and they were on a regular visit to the hospital to pray for the sick.
In a similar incident, sisters at Gandhi Hospital, Secunderabad were persecuted for wearing the cross and praying for the sick.
The level of persecution in India is rising in an alarming rate and the state machinery is not serous in providing justice to the persecuted Christians in India and especially for the Christians in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
In recent incidents Pastor Prem Kumar of Nizamabad was murdered, Pastor Jacob, David and Aharon were beaten up for sharing the love and peace. The Christian workers are intimidated and persecuted for their faith.
