Islamabad: J Salik filed a petition in Federal Shariat Court today on excise duty imposed on liquor by the federal government in budget of 2006.

The Finance Minister of Pakistan has announced the budget of Pakistan for the financial year of 2006-2007 on 5th June 2006 and an excise duty has been imposed on the Liquor (Sharab) in the Budget. J Salik have pleaded that as this is Islamic Republic of Pakistan, where are the Muslims in Majority and the same has been made in the name of Allah, Quran and Sunnah. So everybody knows that the all kinds of Liquors /intoxicating material is Haram in the Islam, so if the main head that is Liquors / Sharab is Haram, how can be the income generated from the business of the same source can be usable, acceptable or Halal for the believers of Quran and Sunnah to whom Quran and Sunnah has abandon from the same things. In petition it is argued that it is pertinent to mention before court that the income from the same source / head is neither useable nor acceptable to bring into use for any of the Muslim or who do not use this Liquors/Sharab specially when the budget is for all the inhabitants / nationals as well as minorities. So including its income into the budget is as like as we mix a drop of urine in a big tank of water and asked somebody to drink it. That it is very important that according to the Masihiat, the same Liquor is haram but the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, this unwanted has been imposed upon the Christian to use this harmful, which clearly shows that the Pakistani Christian has been seduced to use it and been thrown in this vicious circle. Mohammad Asif Khan has filed this petition on behalf of J Salik against federal government of Pakistan through Secretary Establishment and Finance in Federal Shariat Court, Islamabad. It is prayed in Federal Shariat Court for immediate action and to declare that this income is totally un-Islamic and harmful and by including this income into the whole budget will make all the budget haram from everybody. J Salik have urged for injunction in his favour to keep all the income generated from this Liquors / Sharab.
