Raiwind: The First Information Report FIR bearing no. 152/2006 was registered at Raiwind City Police Station here on Wednesday, 26th April 2006 for attempt to murder Mrs. Khalida Gill wife of Dr. Raja Nathaniel Gill in the Diocese of Raiwind, Church of Pakistan . The case was registered against Bishop Samuel Robert Azraiah and others after an armed attack on Mrs. Khalida Gill, in which two bullets were fired on Mrs. Khalida Gill. As reported she has undergone a major operation and her condition is serious. Presently Mrs. Khalida Gill is in Jinnah Hospital , Lahore in intensive care unit/ward, while Bishop Samuel Azraiah and his men are booked under sections 342 and 109 for this attempt on life. Over the years the people of Raiwind Diocese were critical about the governance headed by Bishop Azraiah and during the summer of 2005 a large portion of diocesan money was reported missing from the main accounts of the Diocese, for which a very close relative of the Bishop Azraiah is held responsible and the Bishop is under criticism for not taking action for the recovery, while it is alleged that the Bishop and his said relative took the money with mutual understanding and was split accordingly. Over the recent past some responsible functionaries of the Raiwind Diocese have left the diocese due to conflicts with the Bishop while the others are equally depressed. Mrs. Philip Lall the principal of St. Peter`s School, Lahore (who gave many good years of her life for the establishment of the school) resigned because of the attitude of Bishop Azraiah whereas the principal of Luce Harrison School, Lahore (who opted to work with the Diocese rather with the Government at the time schools were return to the diocese after nationalization) is also preparing to leave with heavy heart. On the other hand Ms. Sophie Polin a lady on deputation from France , who is related closely to Bishop because of his personal values inter-gender relationships, has become another issue in the diocese. Bishop Azraiah is also held responsible for initiating disputes in the Church of Pakistan, when he wanted to become the Bishop of Karachi and used his muscles to create the division in the Church of Pakistan . This simmering situation in Raiwind Diocese has resulted in groupings and leading to criminal actions against those who do not agree with the Bishop. After Sadiq Daniel Bishop Azraiah is the second Bishop of the Church of Pakistan against whom a criminal case has been registered in recent times.
