Former Federal Minister, nominee for Nobel Peace Prize and Organizer Pakistan Human Rights Party, J.Salik today addressed a press conference in his tent and said having been in Ashes for 77 days “Ashes Day”

in slums of Islamabad will be celebrated on August 21, 2005. If the demands are not fulfilled by August 28 they will bow down before God in front of parliament House to express their contentment even on this miserable plight. Thereafter they will not make any demand rather laugh at cruelty. He criticized that in Pakistan minorities do not have the rights which Quaid-e-Azam had promised. He repeated the words which Quaid-e-Azam had expressed during his presidential address in the Constituent Assembly on August 11, 1947. "If you forget your past, work with enthusiasm, irrespective of community, group, colour, religion and race all are citizens of this country with equal rights, facilities and also duties, the country will development tremendously." The Assembly approved design of national flag same day. Its green and white colours reflect the majority of the Muslims and the Christians. Quaid-e-Millat Nawabzada Liaquat Ali Khan while presenting its design clarified to the members of Assembly that this flag represent not only Pakistan existing minorities but also those which will be here in future. This flag represents not only any political party or a group but reflects the whole country. There was bitterness in J.Salik's tone when he made a reference to CDA privatization of sanitary work where 100% are Christians. Hiring and firing them in violation of labour laws is an open cruelty with them as such this act of privatization proved to be prejudice. They will therefore, observe an Ashes Day". Even in the budget, minorities have absolutely been neglected. However, Islamic Ideological Council while recommending to spend income from the confiscated liquor on the welfare of minorities, has made a joke of them. J.Salik said that the oppressed people have been living in the slums of Islamabad for the last 27 years. Even after 10 years of ownership rights to them they remain deprived of basic facilities as such they are leading miserable life. The children living here have dark future as they being deprived of education and facilities are becoming criminals. They in humbleness will wear ashes and pray to God to be kind on them and to grant them their rights. J.Salik on this occasion will visit all Islamabad slums and to register solidarity with them will wear ashes himself.
