LAHORE - Former Federal Minister for Sports, Culture and Tourism Derek Cyprian and prominent leader of Christian community, who was kidnapped from Defense Area three days ago was found dead in Manga Mandi Area, police sources said on Tuesday.

The police concerned reached the drain, situated near Moza Mal, after being informed by some passers-by that body of man was lying alongside the nallah by Tuesday afternoon, a senior police said, adding the body has been removed to the morgue for autopsy. "We have recovered the decomposed body, identified through pocket-documents as Derek Cyprian, and it is yet to be ascertained that how the father of two daughters, was killed, an official of the investigation team said, when contacted, adding the police investigators however, suspected that he had been strangulated. "My father always returned home before 6:00 p.m. but that night (Saturday) he did not return till 10:00 p.m. We contacted on his cellular phone that was switched off", Hena Cyprian told reporters at the deceased residence with sobbing eyes. She said that the following morning the Bank Manager contacted her uncle Navel Cyprian and informed him that her father's car was parked outside the bank in (Y/Block) Defense Area. The deceased daughter further said that her father had been receiving threats of dire consequences by unidentified people for the last several months. "Papa told us a couple of days ago that some people were giving him life threats", she added. Resident of Nishtar Colony Cyprian was stated to be a top leader of the minorities in the country, who also had served as Senior Vice President of National Bank, sources said.
