Mr. Ashraf P Butt Advocate, Secretary General GPFP addressing protestors demanded government of Pakistan to recognize the State of Israel that Christians may be allowed pilgrimage to Holy Lands. While, Mr. Butt was addressing gathering, the protestors were chanting slogans “ long live Israel” and “ permit us to visit Jerusalem” Mr. Ashraf Butt said “ If you can open borders with old rival India why you restrict Christians visits to Holy Lands of Israel” The establishment of diplomatic relations with Israel is outstanding demand of Pakistani Christians and endorsed by many Muslim religious leaders from decades. The campaigners of cordial relation with Israel in Pakistan have always argued that in changed geo-political situation in Middle East when many Muslim neighboring states have recognized Israel, the denial by Pakistani government is failure of our foreign policy. Mr. Ashraf Butt is leading Christian leaders to announce him the friend of Israel in Pakistan and struggling on issue from decades. Talking to PCP correspondent Mr. Butt said, “ Its violation of our human rights to stop us to visit Israel. We demand our right of pilgrimage to our holy lands in Israel” He added “ we demand inclusion of Israel in our passports that we may have also pilgrimage rights like Muslims to visit Saudi Arabia on any feast to perform religious rituals” “ Its our Basic religious right blocked by fundamentalist extremist Religious Muslim Parties leaders” Butt said. Rev. Boiz Philps Raja and other Christian leaders also addressed the protestors. A memorandum was also distributed by GPFP inviting attention of international community and forums to press upon government of Pakistan to establish diplomatic relations with Israel and right of pilgrimage to Christians.
