LAHORE: The Federal Religious Affairs Ministry plans to hold an international faith conference to which it will invite representatives of all major religions, including Reverend Franklin Billy Graham, a fierce critic of Islam and Christian hardliner.

The government will invite Jewish, Hindu and Buddhist scholars as well to discuss how all religions can tolerate each other and establish peace and religious harmony in the world, said Ejaz-ul-Haq, federal minister for Religious Affairs, while addressing the inauguration ceremony of post-graduate classes at Jamia Ashrafia here on Saturday. We will invite Billy Graham to the conference to hear his stance on Islam and to remove his misconceptions, the minister said. Mr Graham is considered the spiritual guide of American President George W Bush. He once said, The God of Islam is not the God of the Christian or the Judeo-Christian faiths. Mr Haq also said in his speech that he told President Gen Pervez Musharraf in a meeting on Friday that he would revolutionise his ministry. I also made it clear that I would not allow the Interior and Education ministries to interfere in the madrassas. I myself will take care the reforms and changes in the madrassa system,he said.
