Dr. Stephen Salim Hamdard is a prominent Christian leader representing Christians in NWFP, the border province of Pakistan with Afghanistan. The provincial government in NWFP province is led by MMA, an alliance of six religious political parties of Pakistan. MMA provincial government in NWFP province implemented Islamic laws where millions of Christians are part of Muslim dominating population. Under joint elections imposed on minorities in Pakistan in election when Christians have been deprived of their basic democratic rights to elect their own representatives in parliament under separate electorate and Muslim majority parties were powered to nominate minority candidates in house on proportions to seats secured by Muslim parties. This undemocratic new joint elections system empowered MMA to nominate 2 Christians in National Assembly seats. Dr. Stephen Salim nomination for the Senate of Pakistan seat was duly rejected under such specified Joint electorate. Dr Stephen Salim who also holds offices of Founder and Chairman of Pakistan Aqliti Rabta Party, Chief Organizer Christian Evangelical and Information Institution Karachi, NWFP president of Voice of Prisoners, Member Legislative Watch Group and Aurat Foundation Lahore and General Secretary Movement for Inter Faith Love and Peace called upon Governor NWFP and Chief Minister NWFP and lodged his protest on sale of socks labeled " Jesus Lord" The Christian Delegation also presented a memorandum to MMA led government Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani on issues of census of Christians and allocation of Christian Quota proportional to population.
