Tanta: April 9, 2017. (PCP) According to news agencies bomb blast killed 21 Christian worshipers and injured dozens during Palm Sunday services in a Church in Tanta

situated in north of capital city Cairo while no claim of responsibility was confirmed by any terror organization. Coptic Christians were offering Palm Sunday prayers when blast struck at Mar Girgis church in the Nile Delta city of Tanta, 120km north of Cairo, Egyptian media reports said. Images posted online also show civilians who were injured from the church blast were being treated at a nearby mosque near the hospital where victims were being taken. Palm Sunday is one of the holiest days of the Christian calendar, marking the triumphant entrance of Jesus to the city of Jerusalem. Copts, who make up about one tenth of Egypt's population of more than 92 million and who celebrate Easter next weekend, have been targeted by several attacks in recent months. Militants accuse them of supporting the military overthrow of the president, Mohamed Morsi, in 2013, which ushered in a deadly crackdown on his supporters. In December, a suicide bombing claimed by the Islamic State group killed 29 worshippers during Sunday mass in Cairo.
