Karachi: December 20, 2013. (PCP) “Christians in Pakistan are preparing for Christmas celebrations under fear after Peshawar Church attack” said Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC in a press note issued here today from C

Dr. Nazir Bhatti said that Government of Pakistan and Provincial Governments are not adopting adequate measures to deploy security forces for safety and security of Christian worshipers during midnight services of Christmas Eve which have spread fear among Christians when wave of violence and terror is at rise in Pakistan. Many Church leaders from Punjab, Sindh, KPK and Balochistan provinces of Pakistan informed Pakistan Christian Congress PCC leaders that district administrations are directing them not to hold Mid-Night Services of Christmas due to security reasons which meant that security cannot be provided to Christian worshipers. The wave of violence against Christian by Muslim extremists started from 1997 in Punjab province of Pakistan when a Christian village was set on fire on pretext to blasphemy laws. Later on Christian worshipers were massacred in Bahawalpur, Chianwali, Karachi and Peshawar. The Christian residencies were burnt down in Lahore, Gojra, Korian, Kasur and other cities of Punjab; there were hundreds of target killing of Christians on religion grounds in KPK, Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan provinces but none of culprits were brought to justice. Dr. Nazir S Bhatti has demanded security for Christian worshipers during Christmas and New Year prayer services.
