Supreme Court of Pakistan dismiss petition on blasphemy against Rimsha Masih

ISLAMABAD: July 10, 2013. (Shamim Masih) Supreme Court of Pakistan discharged the appeal filed against the decision of Islamabad High Court (IHC) quashment of Rimsha case here on Tuesday.

During the hearing, the bench consisting of honorable Justice Tasaduq Hussain Gillani and Justice Nasir ul Malik ordered to dismiss an application filed against the girl (Rimsha) accused of blasphemy. Abdul Hameed Rana, the counsel for the accused appeared in the Supreme Court today and said that the girl was innocent and IHC had declared her innocent and nothing is there in the case now. The girl was arrested in Mehrabad, when Malik Ammad lodged a complaint with the Ramna police accusing her of burning the pages of the Holy Book. It sent a positive image of Pakistan in the international community that there is justice for all and that society has risen up for justice and tolerance.
