PCC urge Punjab government for adequate security to Mushtaq Gill Advocate

Karachi: June 25, 2013. Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC have strongly condemned life threats to Director LEAD Advocate Mushtaq Gill

on providing free legal aid services to 3 Christian women who were forced to paraded naked in village lanes in district of Kasur. Mushtaq Gill Advocate was stopped by armed men when he was going home on motorbike with his friend on June 23, 2013, after meeting victim Christian women of village Sereser, near Pattoki in Kasur district. The armed men equipped with fire arms threatened LEAD Chief Coordinator Advocate Mushtaq Gill of dire consequences if he not stopped supporting Christian victim women and openly fired shots from their pistols to be serious in their threats. On night of June 3, 2013, one of Muslim landlord of village Sereser, Chack number 21, in district Kasur, in Punjab province of Pakistan, entered in home of a Christian family along with half a dozen other Muslims, to teach then lesson on goats of Christian family entering in his fields. There was one old man of age 72 in home and four women while men of family were out on work. The lesson of entering goat in fields of Muslim was so inhuman that he along with other Muslims accomplices started beating everyone in home. After beating women, the Muslims torn up clothes of these 3 Christian women and forced them to parade naked in streets of village. Every one watched but none came to rescue these poor Christian women. On June 4, 2013, Advocate Sardar Mushtaq Gill, National Director at LEAD (Legal Evangelical Association Development) was informed by the Rev. Saleem Gill to give legal aid and assistance to the harassed family. Advocate Gill visited the victims and collected the details of the case and approached the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Pattoki for the registration of the case. Consequently a FIR was registered against the landlord and his henchmen under numbers 231/13 of Section of 452, 354, 337/FI, 149,148 of Pakistan Penal Code PPC. The local Muslim leader of ruling party in Punjab province Pakistan Muslim League PML (N) pressurized police to file counter charges again Christian women to support Muslim landlord instead of acting against inhuman act parading Christian women naked. On June 23, 2013, LEAD Director Advocate Mushtaq Gill went to village of victim Christian women to assure them that he will file petition in court for arrest of culprits when episode of threatening him and firing in air happened with him on way back home. Dr. Nazir Bhatti said that instead of arresting Muslims on such a henious crime of parading Christian women naked in streets the life threats to Advocate Mushtaq Gill express that Christians are not equal citizen of Pakistan nor justice is for them in Pakistan. Nazir Bhatti demanded Chief Minister of Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif to consider millions of Christians living in Punjab from centuries as equal citizens of Punjab and Pakistan to honor their self-respect like Muslims. Advocate Mushtaq Gill is also President of Lahore Council of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC and life threat to him sparked anger among members and leaders of PCC in Pakistan and abroad. PCC urged Mian Shahbaz Sharif to order arrest of culprits involved in parading Christian women naked in streets and to provide adequate security to Advocate Mushtaq Gill.
