Karachi: September 20, 2010. (PCP) The militants burned Holy Bibles, Hymn Books, Holy Crosses and Altar of Nasri Pentecostal Church in Shah Latif Town in District East of Karachi on night of September 18, 2010.

The police registered FIR number 676/10 against unidentified culprits and assured Pastor in charge of Nasri Church to arrest culprits at an earliest. The wave of fear and anger spread among Christian in Karachi as news of attack on Church was heard in Sunday services in different Churches of other denominations. There are more than one hundred homes of Christians in Sector 19-B of Shah Latif Town near famous historical Chowkandi Graveyard on National Highway which connects Karachi with Hyderabad and interior Sindh. When PCC contacted Shah Latif Police Station where FIR of incident have been registered of vandalizing Nasri Pentecostal Church, no one was ready to talk about incident or to tell about any progress to arrest culprits. There were protests by Islamic parties in Pakistan on news of intentions to burn Holy Quran on September 11, 2010, by Florida Pastor and threats to attacks on Churches. One Church was bombed in Cantonment Area of Mardan City by Islamic militants and attack on Nasri Church in Karachi is second incident of attack on Christian worship places in Pakistan while Pastor Terry Jones never burnt Holy Quran. To desecrate Holy Bibles and attack on Churches is happened many times in Pakistan but culprits are never brought to justice by administration in Muslim dominated Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC have condemned attack on Nasri Pentecostal Church and demanded arrest of culprits. “The Sindh government must adopt necessary security measures of Churches and bring accused before justice to those who burnt Holy Bibles and vandalized Church in Shah Latif Town” urged Nazir Bhatti
