Islamabad: October 18, 2009. (PCP) Pakistan Christian Congress PCC extended invitation to leaders and organizations which are struggling to repeal blasphemy law in Pakistan to participate in

All Christian Parties Conference on October 25, 2009, at Rawalpindi Press Club. The invitations were given to Christian members of parliament who raised voice to repeal blasphemy law in House while Christians selected by Pakistan Peoples Party PPP and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz group PML(N) were decide not to invite including Shahbaz Bhatti, Federal Minority Minister imposed on Christian by PPP. General Zial-ul-Haq formulated Hadood Ordinance and introduced Blasphemy law but Section 295 B and C of Pakistan Penal Code were legislated during PPP and PML(N) regimes. The Blasphemy is subject to capital punishment in Pakistan and used against Christians on business rivalry and personnel grudges. The blasphemy law is also being used by Muslim majority in Pakistan to desecrate Holy Bibles and burnt down Churches. On accusations of blasphemy Islamic militants have destroyed hundreds of homes and killed dozens in year 2009, while children, women and elders were burnt alive. The federal government of Pakistan and Punjab provincial government failed to secure life and property of Christians and to adopt necessary measure to stop violence against Christians. The Federal Minority Minster, Shahbaz Bhatti, who championed to repeal blasphemy law changed his tone after selection by PPP and assured to revise the law but failed to lobby among other government functionary on revision even. The moot called by Federal Religious Ministry on October 12, 2009, in Islamabad, failed to reach on any consensus to revise blasphemy law because Christian selected MNA,s and MPA,s by PPP and PML(N) have no home work to present revision draft in blasphemy law and session was postponed till January ,2010. Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President Pakistan Christian Congress PCC, said in a statement issued here by PCC Islamabad Council that government is not sincere to repeal blasphemy nor have any agenda to provide safety and security of life and property to Christians in Pakistan. “The Gojra police officers are threatening Christian victims of violence on accusation of blasphemy to reach on compromise agreement with Muslim attackers unless to face dire consequences which have created concerns among common Christian in Pakistan” Said Nazir Bhatti Nazir Bhatti added “ Shahbaz Bhatti misled international community by his recent presentation in Washington DC and speech in London conference of CSW that he is working on revision of blasphemy law which will provide security to Christians when he is most powerless minister in PPP government and issuing sub-standard statements while Christian demand “Repeal” not “Revision” in blasphemy law” “I urge Federal Government of Pakistan and Punjab Government to provide adequate security at venue of All Christian Parties Conference in Rawlpindi and safety of delegates” said Bhatti The Karachi session of All Christian Parties has been postponed after threats by Islamic militants to leaders of PCC and protest procession on October 10, 2009, by an Islamic religious party demanding to lodge cases against Christians pressing for repeal of blasphemy law. The Lahore moot was also postponed after situation of security and denial of necessary permission by administration. The delegates from all over Pakistan shall gather now in Rawalpindi on October 25, 2009, to discuss unity agenda for a peaceful movement to press upon government to repeal blasphemy law.
