Pakistani Christian in USA, Canada, France and UK observed Black Day

London: August 12, 2009. A large gathering of American Pakistani Christians staged protest in front of United Nation offices at New York, on burning alive of children and women in Gojra city by Muslim militants.

The protestors were holding banners and chanting slogans to repeal blasphemy laws and end violence against Christians. The protest was called by Pakistani Christians Association in America PCA and organized by community leader Arif Jutt, Pastor Parvez, Revival Church, Catholic Pakistani Church, Presbyterian Church leaders and many notables from Pakistani origin in USA. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC and also President of PCA, addressing the protestors demanded government of Pakistan to repeal blasphemy, an amendment to Article 2 of constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan and to stop violence against peaceful Christians in Pakistan. Mr. Bhatti appealed to Mr. Ban-Ki Moon, Secretary General UNO to press upon Pakistan to repeal blasphemy law and award refugee status to Pakistani Christians. Mr. Babar Khokhar, Arif Jutt, Pastor Parvez, Idress Massey and other leaders also delivered lectures and condemned Gojra incident. Canadian of Pakistani origin observed August 11, 2009 as Black Day for Christian Minority in Pakistan today in front of Islamic Foundation Centre, the biggest Mosque in Toronto from 6 to 7:30 pm. Protocol was provided by Metro Police. The protest was led by Mr. Raymond Durrani and other Christian leaders who have been raising voice and condemning killing of Gojra Christians. The big gathering of UK Christians also staged protests and marked Black Day in London while day or mourning was also observed in Paris.(Pukaar Photo of London protest)
