Islamabad: February 21, 2009. (PCP) Former federal minister and Convener World minorities’ alliance J. Salik along with hundreds of Christian community members donated 900 quilts (Razayan) on humanitarian ground to the Swat affected families.

Leading the march of the Christian community, J. Salik handed over the quilts to the Member National Assembly from the war-torn Swat region, Syed Allaudin Aurangzeb who sent the loaded truck to the scenic Swat valley to help the affectees including women, children and elderly people. It may be recalled that the scenic Swat valley witnessed bloody skirmishes between the Pakistani security forces and Taliban militants, which virtually left lives of the people paralyzed. Most of the Swat valley common residents fled the area and shifted to relatively safer areas of the country to dodge the looming deteriorated situation. Addressing the gathering on this occasion, J. Salik said, “his Christian community established a good example to donate quilts (Razayan) to the Swat affectees. It is our gift to the Swat affectees at this critical juncture and we are donating this on humanitarian grounds.” He said that people from all walks of life from the country should come forward and help the affectees of tribal belt who were forced to spend chilly.
