Under Joint Election system, Muslim political parties get votes of Christian for their party candidates of National assembly and four Provincial assemblies and select Christian tools on reserved seats in parliament. There are no reserved seats for Christians in Senate of Pakistan while reserved seats of Muslim women, Muslim technocrats and Muslims religious leaders were legislated. Shahbaz Bhatti, Federal Minister for Minorities and selected member of national assembly by ruling Pakistan Peoples Party PPP, claimed on many occasions that Christians shall get reserved Senate seats in forthcoming March 2009, election. Prime Minister Yousaf Gillani also announced seats for Christians and other religious minorities in Senate of Pakistan. Pakistani Christians never trusted PPP but Martyr Benazir Bhutto, chairperson of PPP restored confidence among Christians by promising Dual Voting right and Senate representation. Pakistan Muslim League factions had Separate Electorates in their manifestos but non of League group raised voice against Joint Electorate but enjoyed Christian vote bank. Christians are more than 15 million and second biggest population of Pakistan but denied their equal rights and social justice in Muslim dominated Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Christians are treated as untouchables by Muslims and turned to be second class citizens under constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan. When few Christians contacted returning officer appointed by Election Commission for Senate elections seeking nomination paper for Christian seats announced by Prime Minister and Minority Minister, they were told that there are no such reserved seats nor EC have any notification or Executive Order in this regard by the government. Few Christians were issued nomination papers in Lahore and Karachi but Christians selected in provincial assembly refused to fill in as proposal and second without directions of their Muslim masters. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC expressed concerns on failure of ruling PPP to legislate reserved seats for minorities before Senate elections. Nazir Bhatti have urged Christians to unite on one platform instead of following PPP, PML(N), PML(Q), ANP, MQM and other Muslim feudal lords and business tycoons because they are not sincere to ensure justice and equal rights for Christians. “We must step up and form platform like MQM and to safeguard our rights because non of Muslim political party is ready to struggle for Christian rights in Pakistan. We are listening claims and promises of Muslim political groups since 1947, but non have been fulfilled” added Nazir Bhatti
