Asif Ali Zardari wins presidential polls

ISLAMABAD: September 6, 2008. (PCP) Pakistan Peoples Party wins election of President of Pakistan according to unofficial results. The PPP candidate Asif Ali Zardari secured 479 electoral votes out of 702 comprising of Senate,

National assembly, Punjab Assembly, Sindh Assembly, NWFP Assembly and Baluchistan Assembly. Asif Ali Zardari, now President of Pakistan was involved in corruption charges, which were withdrawn by ex-President Musharraf by amnesty deal secured, by Benazir Bhutto who was assassinated in Pakistan. The post of President is symbol of federation in Pakistan and constitution bar any political party member to take it but doubts are in street of Pakistan that Zardari will not resign as PPP co-chairman before oath of office because he is not considered reliable to any commitment. People of Pakistan believed the election win of Zardari after news surfaced that he was receiving direction by some western diplomats to make decisions in political arena and trusted to fight against terrorism. Nawz Sharif candidate for office showed only win in Punjab assembly where PML (N) enjoys majority but Justice retired Seeduzamman Siddique success was doubtful as Nawaz Shrif is not trusted among western countries due to his religious extremism background.
