Library Blog inaugurated at GGSCW 26

Chandigarh: October 29, 2017. (PCP) Sh. Rakesh Kumar Popli, Director Higher Education Chandigarh inaugurated the Library blog of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26 , Chandigarh. The blog shares the vision and mission of the college; students will be able to access e-newspapers like The Indian Express, The Tribune, The Times of India and many more. It not only includes e-resources like N list, Directory of Open Access Journals, Directory of Open access reposit, Environmental health perspective, health information and library Journal etc but also has access to old question papers and latest syllabus. S. Gurdev Singh, President Sikh Educational Society, Col. J.S Bala , Secretary and Dr.Charanjeet Kaur Sohi, Principal of the college were also present during the inauguration. Sh. Popli appreciated the initiative and urged the students to focus on gaining knowledge through effective use of library. He emphasized the role of teacher in nation building mentioning that “teachers are king –makers” and student must seek knowledge and values from them. Col(Retd) J.S Bala, thanked Mr. Popli for taking time out to be part of the event. He appreciated library staff for the initiative. Meanwhile, Under the aegis of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Guru Gobind Singh College for Women sector 26, Chandigarh organized an Elocution competition on the topic “Relevance and Importance of Sardar Patel in today’s India”. Sixteen students from various colleges in Chandigarh participated in the competition. First prize was bagged by Jasleen from PGGCG-11, Second prize was won by Swarndeep from DAV-10 and the third prize went to Neymat Grewal from PGGCG-11. Dr. Charanjeet Kaur Sohi, Principal applauded the efforts of the participants and gave away the prizes.
