August 11, as Minority Day

Lahore: August 11, 2015. (PCP) Today Sardar Mushtaq Gill, Human Rights Defender and Advocate High Court who heads LEAD said that Government has declared 11th August, as “Minorities Day” to honour the services and sacrifices rendered by religious minorities for the country over the years. It is good that the Events are being organized by the minority groups and Government should also celebrate the day with a pledge to safeguard fundamental rights, safety, security, honor, life, liberty and property of the minorities and it is not possible until Government would not be able to abolish the discriminatory laws which are being misused against religious minorities to make them oppressed particularly blasphemy laws. Government should also strictly discourage those elements who promote mob violence, discriminatory behavior and spirit of intolerance against Christians in Pakistan.
