HUJ elections: Abbas Kassar and Effendi reelected as General Secretary, President

HYDERABAD: July 15, 2017. (PCP) Elections of Hyderabad Union of Journalists for 2017-18 were held here Saturday at press club hall wherein Abbas Kassar of daily Messenger was reelected as General Secretary unopposed. Other office bearers who were elected unopposed were Akhtar Pirzada (daily Ibrat) senior vice president, Sultan Zai (Dunya News) as senior joint secretary, Mujahid Aziz (Radio /Jang) as treasurer) and Rehan Ghani (ARY)as secretary information. Farhan Effendi (Capital News) was also reelected as president. He got 85 votes while Abdul Hafeez Abid (daily Ummat) got only 2 votes. Anees Durani(City channel) elected as vice president with 67 votes while Jameel Sanjrani got only 7 votes and Mirza Khan 2 votes. Noor Alam Shah of Akhbar Noor elected as joint secretary with 60 voted. His opponent Ghulam Mustafa Solangi got 16 votes. Following 9 were elected as members of governing body of HUJ: Shakeel Qureshi(daily Parcham),Sajid Ali Khan (daily Ummat), Abid Ali (daily Koshish),Hakim Leghari ( daily Pireh),Sohail Ansari( daily Qaumi Akhbar),Kazi Nazim(daily Aman),Tasawar Rajput ( News One),Saeed Ghori(Akhbar Noor) and Kazi Waseeem (Dunya News). Senior journalists Anwar Siyal and Noor Muhammad Bhutto performed as chairman and member election commission.
