Chandigarh: February 11, 2017. (PCP) A One-day faculty development programme on “Emerging Dimensions in Teaching and Research” was organized under the aegis of RUSA by the RUSA Cell of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh, on 11th February, 2017. College Vice-Principal, Mrs. Anita Waraich welcomed the expert, Prof. Balvinder Singh, Associate Prof., Dept. of Commerce, GNDU, Amritsar who was the speaker for the faculty development programme. The interactive programme witnessed an overwhelming response from around 70 faculty members from colleges within and outside Chandigarh. Prof. Balvinder Singh highlighted the changing paradigms in teaching and research. Various pedagogical concerns were addressed by him and new innovations in teaching and research methodology were also discussed. The Workshop concluded with an interactive session, wherein the teachers from different colleges raised their queries and got them resolved by the expert. The teaching fraternity welcomed the suggestions and found them to be informative and relevant to the changes needed in the educational system. Another workshop on “Application of Statistical techniques in Research” was organized by the RUSA Cell of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, on the same day, which was presided over by Dr. Ravinder Kaur, professor and chairperson, Department of Geography, Panjab University, Chandigarh. Dr. Jatinder Kaur, HOD, Department of Commerce, Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh welcomed the speaker. The skill development workshop, meant for the postgraduate students of all streams, involved a discussion of the research process and the application of statistical tools. Dr. Ravinder explained how statistics can be used in daily life and also guided the students regarding report and synopsis writing. Both the workshops were extremely informative and well-received by the faculty and students.
