Mystic Sufi woman killed in Bangladesh

Dhaka: January 31, 2017. (PCP) Islamists in Bangladesh cut throat of Nurjahan Begum a Muslim woman aged 72 and kill her on claiming superhuman powers which her followers believed. Sufi mystic Nurjahan Begum, 72, was found in her home in Dhaka, Bangladesh, with her throat slit. Her followers thought she had superhuman powers but police say she was mentally ill Nurjahan Begum was worshiped by her followers as they believed that her blessings treat their illnesses and fulfill their future dreams. Premier Hassina Sheikh declared Bangladesh to be People Republic of Bangladesh instead of Islamic Republic of Bangladesh but failing to change mindset as liberal bloggers and Sufi Mystic personal are being killed by Islamists. But police say that she was not a mystic but was a mentally ill woman. Local police chief Faruqul Alam confirmed that her throat was slit. This is the fourteenth time a Sufi leader has been killed since 2013 in a new wave of religiously motivated attacks. The Muslim-majority country of 160 million has been reeling from a wave of attacks on foreigners, rights activists and members of religious minorities.
