Washington DC: November 30, 2016. (PCP) No Chain will host and participate in a series of events during the week of December 5th to 10th to celebrate Human Rights Day in 2016 (December 10), which commemorates the day in 1948 when the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, a document containing rights that sadly the North Korean dictatorship denies to its own people to this day. Jung Gwang Il, Founder and Executive Director of No Chain, will be speaking about the latest updates regarding the political prison camps inside North Korea, with the US-release of the 'Yodok 180 Inmates List' Report; he will also discuss No Chain's ongoing efforts in sending outside information into North Korea using various methods. In addition to public events, Jung will also hold meetings with various NGOs and human rights organizations, US government and intelligence community officials, tech companies, and leaders of the local Korean-American community. No Chain is also proud to host an event commemorating and celebrating the 10 year anniversary of the resettlement of North Korean defectors in the USA during this week of events, on Tuesday, December 6th. "I look forward to sharing the latest news from inside North Korea, and also news regarding the political prison camps, which is still an ongoing human rights crisis- with the US release of the report containing the names and stories of 180 of my fellow inmates in Yodok when I was incarcerated there; as well as an update on our work in sending outside information into North Korea. We are also honored and excited to host an event featuring US-resettled defectors to commemorate ten years of North Korean defector resettlement in America, during the week to highlight Human Rights Day and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights," said Jung. "As we celebrate Human Rights Day this year, the world needs to remember that North Koreans do not have the basic human right to access outside information, and to have the freedom to watch, read, and listen to whatever they want to. That is why No Chain does the critically important work of sending in outside information contained in USBs and SD cards into North Korea. I encourage people to come listen to the person who is actually in the frontlines doing this work instead of just talking about it," said Henry Song, North America Director of No Chain. "In addition to the talks by Mr. Jung, we are also very excited to hold the North America exhibition premiere of North Korean defector artist Han Sol's artwork, in addition to another exhibition of Song Byeok's paintings; as well as a re-screening of the award-winning documentary, 'Under the Sun', and leading a protest at the Chinese Embassy to highlight the human rights situation of North Korean refugees in China," said Song.
