Maiduguri: October 5, 2016. Two years ago, a Catholic Nigerian bishop says he had a vision of Jesus giving him a rosary and saying, “Boko Haram is gone.” This week, the bishop is saying that the terrorist organization “will soon fizzle out.”
Bishop Oliver Dashe Doeme of Maiduguri told the Catholic Herald: "Before, Boko Haram members were everywhere. But now they are not everywhere. They have been pushed to the forests. Boko Haram will soon fizzle out, mostly because of the prayers of the people."
In 2014, the bishop says he had a vision of Jesus giving him a sword that then turned into a rosary. Jesus then told him, “Boko Haram is gone.”
Since that vision, Bishop Doeme has held daily rosary processions all over his dioceses.
"Boko Haram is evil, ISIS is evil. So as long as we go to a place with His Mother, especially by praying the rosary, which is the most pronounced form of Marian devotion, we will be victorious,” Doeme said.
Boko Haram has killed about 15,000 people and displaced about 2 million in Nigeria. Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has said the group has been “technically defeated” because the group is no longer carrying out conventional attacks and many people are returning home.
