Chandigarh: August 22, 2016. (PCP) ‘Akshay Urja Diwas’ was celebrated and a seminar was organized by Department of Chemistry at Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector-26 Chandigarh.
The seminar was sponsored by CREST Chandigarh Administration. Dr. Buwan Bhushan Mishra, Scientist C at Center of Innovative and Applied Bioprocessing, Mohali, was the guest speaker at the seminar. He gave an enlightening lecture on biofuels. He talked about the importance of renewable sources of energy and described the methods of production of biofuels. He mentioned that it is very challenging to manage lot of agri-waste, but using different chemical or biochemical methods how these waste can be converted into the useful products.
He interacted with the students and made them aware about industries at different regions of India which are using renewable sources of energy to produce power. The seminar was attended by students of Bachelor in Science and they also participated enthusiastically in the seminar. The college Principal, Dr. Charanjeet Kaur Sohi also appreciated the seminar and encouraged students to use the renewable sources of energy like solar energy as far as possible.
