Sahiwal: The British Asian Christian Association (BACA) continues to stand alongside vulnerable Christian families in Pakistan who face injustice,
Bangalore: August 16, 2016. (PCP) The Global Council of Indian Christians (GCIC) condemns, in equivocal terms, the mischief that is being played by Baba Ramdev through the advertisements of Patanjali products which are being aired on TV channel shows by using the cross, the symbol of Christianity, while depicting foreign products. This is very much objectionable and absolutely unwarranted. It is indeed shocking that the cross, which is the symbol of Jesus, is being repeatedly shown irreverently in the advertisement.
In the advertisement, a bunch of 'foreign products' are shown which are said to be harmful for people. These videshi products are represented using a symbol of the cross. The advertisement first shows a cross appearing in one direction, then from two other angles and it makes a symbol depicting foreign company. Christians throughout the country are very much agitated and feel deeply hurt.
GCIC demands Ramdev, Acharya Bal Kishan and other officials of the Patanjali Food Limited, to stop hurting the sentiments of Christians, and unconditionally apologize to the Christians. If the advertisement is not stopped, the community would not hesitate to launch a campaign against their products and boycott them, apart from taking legal action,
You can't even associate an earlier symbol of East India Company with Christianity and Christians as they only came for trade and not to preach any religion. We have no problem with their promoting their products or attacking others, let them do whatever they wish to do -- but let them not, cunningly, bring in Christianity. Christianity has been in India for almost two thousand years, and it was not brought here by the imperialists or by any foreign governments. It was brought to India by one of the first twelve apostles of Christ, St. Thomas the Apostle, perhaps much earlier than some of the so-called indigenous religions of India themselves. Hence, creating such false impressions is not only wrong but a great injustice to the peace-loving members of the Christian community in India.
It is a widely accepted fact of truth that when one is unable to accept or face some of the fundamental truths as taught by a religion, either because one cannot comprehend them or are too much for one’s accepted norm of life, such people very often are known to resort to all sorts of belittling gimmicks of mudslinging at such beliefs or symbols in order to derive some vicarious pleasure. We know all the gimmicks Ramdev has resorted to in the near past, but still we just cannot imagine that he could lower himself to this level. No one who believes in values and religious beliefs, more so, any sincere Hindu, would ever demean himself by using uncultured and uncivilized ways of promoting his business or religion through negative means.
GCIC also demands regulatory agencies to book self styled Godman Ramdev under IPC 295 and connected acts for bringing disharmony and hatred in the society.
