New Delhi: August 11, 2016. (PCP) “This is unfortunate that the Parliament (Rajya Sabha) discussed J&K for hours and the leadership from all schools of thought participated. The Former Maharaja of J&K, Dr.Karan Singh presently Member in the Rajya Sabha presented the situation in J&K with clarity and wisdom by presenting a political map to the new generation that has taken shape since 1947 when his father, Maharaja Hari Singh acceded to the Union of India like all other (575) rulers of different states merged into the Union of India including two other states which had not signed the Instrument of Accession even namely Hyderabad and Junagarh.” Prof.Bhim Singh, Chief Patron of National Panthers Party expressed his deep concern after watching the proceeding in the Rajya Sabha yesterday on the situation prevailing today in J&K. Dr. Karan Singh presented the past and the present political history of J&K and spoke with wisdom and clarity in presenting the political map of J&K and the circumstances that existed in J&K when his father Maharaja Hari Singh acceded to the Union of India on 26th October, 1947. It was a great speech and the former Maharaja brought forth the existing situation as prevails today in J&K. It was a great speech and a scientific diagnoses of the politically ailing body of J&K. Prof.Bhim Singh expressed surprise as to why Maharaja Karan Singh did not come out with the real theme, ‘What needs to be done today’. I had a long sitting with Dr.Karan Singh couple of days back and suggested that there is a need for the amendment in temporary provision of Article 370 as a temporary has lived for nearly 67 years and the Parliament has failed to take cognizance. Prof.Bhim Singh said that several Members of Parliament spoke on the subject from all sides of political shade but no one could come out as to what is the resolution they were presenting to the nation. He said that the Parliament has to sit and take a final decision as what needs to be done to integrate the State of J&K with the rest of the country without any further delay. Article 370 in the Indian Constitution was a temporary phase and that needs to be amended without any delay by empowering the Parliament to legislate in respect of, at least, three subjects which Maharaja Hari Singh acceded himself to the Union of India on 26th October, 1947 like all other rulers of the respective states. Article 370 has been used as a wailing wall to keep J&K away from the rest of the country. Maharaja Hari Singh had signed Instrument of Accession and that had to be respected by the Constituent Assembly. Prof.Bhim Singh called on the countrymen to launch a political movement from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Gujarat to Manipur seeking support of the people of this country to integrate J&K with the rest of the country as it was done in respect of the 575 states in 1950.
