Mandi Bahauddin: August 9, 2016. (Sher Gondal) Anti-Corruption Movement (ACM) core members meeting was held here in ACM office with District President Ex-Servicemen Society Major (retd) Sher Muhammad Gondal in chair. Besides Ex-servicemen, lawyers also attended the meeting. The meeting strongly condemned Quetta suicide bombing at Government hospital that claimed 73 lives and injured as many as 108 persons, mostly among them lawyers. The meeting participants expressed deep grief and sorrow over such great number of deaths, and showed solidarity with heirs of the victims. The meeting observed that government even with large security forces including armed forces have completely failed to protect life and property of citizens. Terrorism, organized crime and corruption continue in the country unabated with impunity. It appears corrupt and terrorist mafia is stronger than government. Unfortunately our ruling class comprises selected few families and all government machinery and security forces are practically deployed to protect them. Security and welfare of public is not on their agenda. The rulers and their agents in districts across the country have full control over police and bureaucrats. On instance of these agents, police arrest, involve innocent persons in false cases and when these falsely involved persons bow before agents of rulers the police set them free. People are passing life under constant fear, despair and poverty and law and order situation is not being seen to improve. The present system of government and judiciary either is incompetent to perform their duties efficiently or they are intentionally ignoring to administer social and economic justice in the society. The meeting was of the opinion that people have lost trust in government institutions and departments. Some of the participants said that corrupt leaders and reckless government officials are so powerful that no ruler has the courage to take them to task. They said statements made by rulers to fight and control corruption are never followed by action and people continue suffering under poor and corruption infested governance. The meeting through a unanimous resolution demanded that rulers should immediately formulate proper mechanism to effectively tackle corruption and terrorism before terrorism and corruption disintegrate our country, like it happened in 1971.
