Damtari: July 25, 2016. Three Indian Christians are in serious condition after a suspected Hindu extremist mob attacked them. Christian Today reports over 50 people attacked Christians Umesh Patel, his father Sudhama Patel, and their family friend Kiran Vishwakarma.
The mob first questioned the men about their Christian faith before they destroyed the Patels’ home in the Damtari district of Chhattisgarh and attacked the men on July 17.
Tomson Thomas, head of Persecution Relief’s Indian branch, said that the attack was likely organized by Hindu extremists, who are targeting Christians across the area.
"We keep getting several reports of assaults on poor Christians living in villages every day from different parts of the country," Thomas said.
Christian persecution is heightened in India, where people of faith are often forced to hide their beliefs or risk harassment, sometimes resulting in death.
