Christian woman Maryam returned to Evin prison in Tehran

Iran: July 2, 2016. Iranian Christian Maryam Naghash Zargaran (also known as 'Nasim') returned to the women’s ward of Evin prison in Teheran, Iran on Monday 27 June. The prosecutor’s office had refused to extend her medical leave, and, when they threatened to seize the family home (in payment of the 350 million toman bond given to secure her temporary release), Maryam submitted herself back to prison. Maryam had been released from Evin on temporary medical furlough on 6 June, following a hunger strike, which she had begun on 26 May. Family and friends are thankful that Maryam was able to receive medical care and spend valuable time at home. Her health had improved when she returned to prison. Maryam still has a year remaining of her four-year sentence. Source: Elam Ministries
