Sindhi women held demo in London against violence on women in Pakistan

HYDERABAD: June 19, 2016. (By Abbas Kassar) International Sindhi women organisation held a peaceful demonstration on last night in front of 10 Downing Street London. They also submitted a petition to the Prime Minister David Cameron against human rights violation especially recent rise in crime against women in Pakistan. The news and photos of demo were received by this scribe last night. ISWO also showed deep concern about recent live burning cases of young girls and murders because of their choice of marriage with their own will. ISWO office bearers Dr Humairah Soomro, Dr Afsana Bhurghri, Rubina Greenwood, Sasuie Laghari, Saima Qureshi, Sunita Khan , Sadaf Solangi, Anita Thaeem, Marvi Baloch and Khadija Mahar strongly condemned the violence against women like honour killing, rape, force religious conversion, acid attacks and denying the women right to marry at their discretion. ISWO demanded Pakistan govt to take strict actions against these crimes and take serious steps to implement the laws to protect women rights. ISWO requested British Government to implement clauses to support women's rights before giving financial aid to Pakistan that Pakistani government ensures that women's rights are protected and that special funds are granted to support and protect women of abuse and those at risk and to take serious action against those involved in these heinous crimes. Protest was participated by Pakistani Christian and Hindu communities as well as other Sindhi organisations of UK.
