National Seminar on "Trends and Issues in Contemporary Literature"

Chandigarh: May 30, 2016. (PCP) A National Seminar on "Trends and Issues in Contemporary Literature" was organized by the Post Graduate Department of English of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh. Prof. Surjit Hans from GNDU, Patiala was the Chief Guest of the day. Prof. Hans is credited with the translation of entire works of Shakespeare into Punjabi, a task accomplished over more than two decades. Prof Harpreet Pruthi, Dept. of English and Cultural Studies, PU, Chd was the Guest of Honour while the Key Note Address was delivered by Prof. Anil Raina, Dept. of English and Cultural Studies, PU, Chd. Among other speakers were Prof. Roshan Lal Sharma, Head, Dept of English and European Languages, Central University of Himachal Pradesh who delivered the Inaugural Address and invited speaker, Prof Tejinder Kaur, Dept of English, Director, Centre for Diaspora Studies, Punjabi University, Patiala. The Seminar delved into the main areas of contemporary literature with a view to understand the issues which woke interest in the field of language and literature today. Around 25 research papers were presented in the technical sessions by the Faculty members, research scholars and students. The seminar was sponsored by Sikh Educational Society. Col(Retd.) J.S Bala, Secretary, SES, gave Vote of Thanks.
