Islamabad: May 11, 2016. (PCP) Once more, PPP senior leader Senator A. Rehman Malik has categorically denied having any links with Panama offshore bank accounts. He said that there is no truth in the news being propagated by a section of media with illicit motives. Holding his earlier challenge if his or his company Petroline FZC has any connection to Panama tax heavens, he would resign from the politics. Senator Rehman Malik said a section of media is misguiding the public by dragging Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and his name in Panama Leaks while factually his name doesn’t exist in Panama Papers. During the exile period, Senator A. Rehman Malik said a company namely Petroline FZC was registered in UEA and the company did ‘legal’ and legitimate business under United Nation’s Oil for Food Programme. Neither has it any asset and account in Panama nor in any tax heaven till its closure in 2005, he said. He said “I have lived in UK during my exile period for nearly ten years and I have developed food business and due diligence as a security consultant and oil business.” Senator Rehman Malik said “I have never disowned my companies in UK as the business in UK is run through companies and all are registered according to the UK laws.” “We had and have nothing to do with Panama and its Leaks as we have nothing to do with it”, Senator Rehman Malik reiterated. He reaffirmed that “Both neither I, nor Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto had any account in Panama and any tax heaven and I did ‘legal’ business under the United Nation’s Oil for Food Programme.” The company now indicated as Petroline International Inc. is a forged company with our name though not mentioned and included in Panama Papers however being propagated by a section of media aimed at to defame me. The details are given as: 1. We had applied for the registration of Petroline FZC but we were informed that Petroline FZC Limited is not available; t it cannot be taken as it is already gone in 1948 to some other directors. 2. Another attempt was made to get the same name “Petroline FZC” but the lawyer yet got wrong name and not the requested name. He was asked to cancel otherwise the directors will sue. Thus the lawyer returned the whole fees with apology. (The relevant documents and correspondence to be provided to the concerned authority if ever asked.) 3. Later, we were informed once more and they came up with another name for the company to be registered but we rejected and said “No company without name of Petroline FZC we will accept” and the chapter was closed forever. 4. The company namely “Petroline International Inc” in a private TV channel list is forged and bogus as it was just a suggestion by the lawyer which we had regretted on the same time. No signature by any of us, no meeting in this regard, and no correspondence, no asset, no bank account and no asset we had with the name of “Petroline International Inc” which is allegedly mentioned in a private TV channel website. 5. Petroline FZC or I had no account /property or any business through any offshore Company and I ask my critics to verify before leveling allegations. 6. Interestingly my name or Petroline FZC doesn’t exist on website of ICIJ but surprisingly my name without verification has been put by GEO Leaks. Rehman Malik said that once again he challenges the detractors to produce any signature of us, bank account details, assets, our correspondence in the name of “Petroline International Inc” or even our any attempt to use this alleged company or ever this alleged had been remained under our use or his any offshore company anywhere in the world. Senator A. Rehman Malik said that he firmly stands by his claim and challenge that he has/had no account, asset, business or property in Panama and he also stated he has/had no accounts and no assets and never done any business in any BVI and offshore company and in any tax heaven. Proofs in the support of my statement regarding this forged company “Petroline International Inc” to prove the propagandists false, shall be presented before the authority if asked. Senator A. Rehman Malik hopes that the detractors will stop his and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto only to malign our names.
