RT holds silent protest to express solidarity with victims of extremism

Lahore: April 27, 2016. (PCP) Rwadari Tehreek, a social movement to counter, intolerance, violent extremism and Terrorism, on the completion of one month to the Gulshan Park Bomb Blast, held a Silent Protest in front of Punjab Assembly on 26th April 2016 to express solidarity with the victims of violent extremism and to demand appropriate policy and strategies to eliminate hatred, extremist mindset and terrorism. The participants of the Silent Protest including members of Rwadari Tehreek from Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa, Sindh, Punjab, Baluchistan, FATA and Gilgit Baltistan were wearing “BLACK BANDS” and carried play-cards with slogans to challenge the violent extremism and terrorism and of specific demands for its eradication. Chairman Rwadari Tehreek Mr. Samson Salamat, President Mr. Abdullah Malik and President Punjab Ms. Sabira Asmat led the Silent Protest while a large number of renowned political and social activists of different political parties participated including Mr. Sarwar Bari (National Coordinator of Pattan Development Organization), Dr. Nosheen Hamid MPA (PTI), Ms. Shazia Khan (Awami Workers Party), Ms. Komal Patras, Ms. Ms. Samia Arif, Ms. Wajahat Batool, Mr. Adoo Ram, and Mr. Samuel Pyara. Mr. Samson Salamat at this occasion said that it’s a matter of shame for the whole nation that we are losing precious lives due to violent extremism which has deep rooted in the society and has practically crippled our lives and as a whole we are living a life of threat and terror. Our educational institutions, religious places, markets, and other public places are not safe and our children are getting their education under the shadow of Arms and Ammunition”. Mr. Samson Salamat added that this should be enough for us as a country and as a nation and we need to formulate a serious short term and long-term policy and strategy to save the precious lives of human beings”. “Merely lip-service will not work and therefore it has become utmost important to hold accountable the culprits behind the Gulshan Park Blast, Charsada University and all other terrorist attacks’ Mr. Samson added. Rwadari Tehreek at this occasion presented following demands to deal with the menace of violent extremism and terrorism: - stern action should be taken against the terrorists and militant outfits wherever they exist without any recognition of good or bad and their hideouts and their Training Centers should be targeted where they are training youth for terrorist acts. Moreover, the access of the militant outfits to the educational institutions should be - checked and banned. The financing of the terrorist groups should be checked strictly and stopped. - All those individuals who are supporting the militants and terrorists openly or secretly should be held accountable and the elements behind the terrorist incidents such as Gulshan Park Blast, Bacha Khan University attack and all other similar incidents should be exposed. - A very comprehensive border security plan should be formulated to control the foreign terrorists for entering in Pakistan and using our soil for terrorist activities. - The ban on hate speech should be implemented in letter and spirit and all those found in spreading hate speech through print or electronic media or through loud speakers should be apprehended. - The syllabus of the educational institutions needs to be thoroughly checked and the material which spreads hate on religious, sectarian or any other basis should be eliminated from the curriculum. - All those laws which are being misused to instigate people for violence in the society should be revisited. - Government, media, civil society and other stake-holders should initiate awareness campaigns to promote Rwadari (Religious Tolerance) amongst the people, especially among the youth.
