Lahore: January 20, 2016. (PCP) Rwadari Tehreek (a non-violent social movement to promote respect of all types of diversity for a peaceful co-existence) has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on Bacha Khan University- Charsada and has demanded the implementation of 20 Points National Action Plan in letter and spirit to counter religious extremism and terrorism prevailing in the country.
Members of Rwadari Tehreek and citizens from different walks of life held a protest at the Mall Road of Lahore today (20 January 2016) which was participated by prominent social and human rights activists including Chairman Rwadari Tehreek Mr. Samson Salamat and Central President Mr. Abdullah Malik, Mr. Irfan Muft (Deputy Director SAP)i, Mr, Farooq Tariq (General Secretary Awami Workers Party), Mr. Khamis Chaudhary (Vice President Rwadari Tehreek Lahore), Ms. Arooma Shahzad (General Secretary of Rwadari Tehreek Lahore), Ms. Komal Patras (Secretariat Incharge of Rwadari Tehreek), Ms. Amna Malik, Mr. Imran Yousuf, Mr. Naveed Raphael, and Mr. Adoo Ram participated in the meeting.
The protestors were carrying play-cards and chanted slogans against the attack on Bacha Khan University, religious extremism and terrorism and expressed solidarity with all those effected due to the attack in Charsada>
Addressing the protestors Mr. Samson Salamat, Chairman of Rwadari Tehreek said that “this is a highly alarming situation and therefore Rwadari Tehreek calls upon the Government, State Institutions responsible for the safety and security of the citizens, and the political forces to seriously look into the issue of militancy, extremism and terrorism and make concrete short term and long terms strategies to counter the militant groups who are killing innocent people and continuously challenging the sovereignty of our land and conspiring against the democratic system of our country”.
Mr. Abullah Malik said that “we strongly believe that the philosophy of non-violence of Great Bacha Khan will prevail in the society and all the extremist elements shall get defeated”. Mr. Malik appealed to the citizens of people to stand united and raise their voice against all those forces who are spreading hate and killing innocent people.
Mr. Ifran Mufti, Mr. Farooq Tarriq, Ms. Arooman Shahzad, and Amna Malik also spoke to the participants of the protest and demanded practical and serious steps to stop violence in the name of religion.
