ASC Announces Newly Appointed 2016 Governing Board

USA: January 20, 2016. (PCP) The American Sikh Council (ASC) has completed its selection process and the following Sikh Americans have been appointed to its governing board for 2016: Kavneet Singh, Voorhees, NJ, President, Gurdas Singh, Solon, OH, Vice-President, Inderpreet Singh, Glen Allen, VA, Secretary General, Mohinder Singh, Liverpool, NY, Treasurer, Inderpreet Singh, Cumming, GA, Secretary of Media Relations, Gulbarg Singh, Dunwoody, GA, Chair of the Board, Jasbir Singh, Salt Lake City, UT, Secretary of the Board , Ajay Partap Singh, Charlotte, NC, Ishwar Singh, Geneva, FL, Iqbal Singh, Volo, IL. Jasvir Kaur, Palatine, IL, Kirpal Singh, Painted Post, NY, Manbir Singh, Bakersfield, CA, Manmohan Singh, Richardson, TX and Parmjit Singh, Berkeley, CA All fifteen members of the Governing Board are elected by member organizations of ASC through a national nomination process. Committee members are selected for three-year terms. About one-third of the committee members are replaced every year. For 2016, out of the seven retiring members on the board, five are replaced for the term 2016-2018 and two for the term 2016-2017. The ASC selection procedure is a consensus building process in which canvassing for candidates are strongly discouraged. The American Sikh Council (ASC) is the umbrella organization representative of Sikhs in the United States. It is a representative and elected body of Sikh Gurdwaras and institutions that meet its criteria for membership. Currently 70 Gurdwaras and other Sikh institutions across the nation are members of ASC. The major governing purpose of the organization is to represent the collective view of all Sikhs in the United States. ASC works to promote Sikh interests at the national and international level focusing on issues of advocacy, education, and well-being of humankind.
