Dr. Ramesh Kumar rejects PPP Committee for Thar children

Karachi: January 7, 2016. (PCP) PML (N) Member of National Assembly, Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, offering condolences to the parents of children of Thar, has rejected the two-member Committee formed by the PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to look into the situation of increasing deaths of children in Thar due to malnutrition, lack of healthcare facilities and scarcity of water. In an emergency statement issued on Thursday, PML (N) leader Dr. Ramesh Vankwani, who also heads Pakistan Hindu Council, termed the committee, which only comprising provincial Information Adviser Moula Bux Chandio and Food Minister Nasir Shah as “fake” and against the parliamentarian traditions, because of no representation of opposition and other political parties. “The Government of Sindh is direct responsible for deaths of innocent children and all the hardships of people of Thar who are paying the price of the negligence of government authorities,” he regretted, while emphasizing that once peaceful Mithi, Thar is now becoming most worst place for the minorities. In this regard, Dr. Ramesh specifically mentioned the recent attack on Krishna Temple, which, according to him, came under attack twice within 8 months. “Taking security back just 15 days before the attack is another question mark on the performance of Police,” he said, adding that local police is responsible for the drugs and other social evils. “Sindh Government has enough funds for the celebrations of festivals, VVIP protocols but no concrete action plan to save the lives of children and people of Sindh,” Dr. Ramesh further said. He was of the view that water filtration RO plants are becoming source of mass corruption by the Sindh government. “People of Thar needs clean water, medicines and health facilities, instead of “fake” committee.” Media Reports from remote towns and villages such as Chhachhro, Nagarparkar, Islamkot, Chelhar, Diplo, Dahli and Kaloi said that as many as 45 children, under the age of 5 years, suffering from different diseases had lost their lives only in the last month of December 2015. Dr. Ramesh expressed that PPP Government has badly failed to overcome this horrifying situation, saying that in the months of December 2014 and January 2015, reports of 300 to 400 children deaths had created panic among sensible circles.
