KASUR: January 7, 2016. (PCP) A 18-year-old Christian girl from District Kasur in Pakistan has been kidnapped by a Muslim man along with his accomplices while she was alone at home. The case FIR No.8/2016 has been lodged against the kidnappers at Police Station under section 365-B PPC.
"I have experiences of a number of such cases that the perpetrators often take plea of marriage and conversion to Islam so that they can save themselves from criminal charges of rape and kidnapping”, said Sardar Mushtaq Gill Advocate
This is not an only case from religious minorities who are forcefully being abducted. Every year a large number of Christian women fall victims to the gender based religious persecution and the perpetrators enjoy impunity because there is no legislation regarding forced conversion.
"We are at LEAD trying to surface the issue of forced conversion to the authorities and advocating for the proper legislation of forced conversion and also requesting some civil society groups to stand with us in this regard,” added Gill.
