New Delhi: December 5, 2015. (PCP) A special meeting was convened by several political and social groups in Delhi at Jantar Mantar to pay tributes to the great nationalist and secular leader, Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah who stood by his nationalist and secular outlook in spite of untold miseries and coercions committed to him by the opportunist and corrupt leadership in the country. Addressing 110th birthday Anniversary of Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah, Prof.Bhim Singh, Supremo of National Panthers Party described him as a symbol of secularism, nationalism and humanism. He said that he (Bhim Singh) spent three years in J&K jails as Congress MLA in J&K from 1977 to 1980 under the government of Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah. He survived the assassination attempt by some of the Sheikh Abdullah’s supporters who did not agree with his secular and nationalist outlook. Prof.Bhim Singh said that Sheikh Abdullah spent more than two decades in jails under a conspiracy to dislodge him from power and downgrade him in his popularity. He blamed the CIA and its co-brothers for the conspiracy. Prof. Bhim Singh said that he would have been done to death if there were any other leaders in power in J&K when he opposed the anti-India plans of the government in J&K. He said that Sheikh Abdullah became a victim of the CIA and other pro-Pakistani conspirators who did not want Sheikh Abdullah to work as an Indian administrator and die as Indian nationalist. Prof. Bhim Singh told a gathering of, mostly lawyers, educationists, artists, youth and other persons from different areas of the country that Sheikh Abdullah was a great nationalist like Nehru or Maulana Abu Kalam Azad. Prof. Bhim Singh said that the hidden philosophy of Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah to merge J&K with the Union of India with the other 557 states in the Union has not been written rather kept hidden by the vested interests under the influence of Anglo-American Bloc. He said that Anglo-American Bloc failed to use/exploit Sheikh Abdullah in the name of religion and Sheikh Abdullah stood by India opposing every effort of Mohd. Ali Jinnah to swallow J&K in the name of religion. Prof.Bhim Singh said that Sheikh Abdullah should be remembered for being only Muslim leader in 1947 who refused to buy two-nation theory and openly denounced the move of Mohd. Ali Jinnah. Prof. Bhim Singh said that he continued as MLA in the Assembly on June, 1977 to 1981. Three years he was kept in prison by Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah at the instance of enemies of India including the Congress though he was Congress (elected) MLA from Udhampur District. Prof.Bhim Singh reminded the youth in India to pay their homage to one of the greatest nationalist leaders in the country. He said that J&K is in India today mainly because of Maharaja Hari Singh and Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah. He pleaded for decorating Sheikh Abdullah as ‘Bharat Ratna’ with others. Let us not forget, he said that it was Sheikh Abdullah’s wish that his dead body should be covered in tri-colour flag. This happened when Mrs. Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India accompanied Sheikh Abdullah’s last journey upto his last destination. Prof. Bhim Singh said that Sheikh Abdullah was one of the greatest Indian nationalist, secular and forward thinking politicians in India. The real tributes to Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah and Maharaja Hari Singh shall be to reorganize J&K as ‘twin states’, Kashmir Valley and Jammu Pradesh. The twin states with the Ladakh shall flourish and happily grow as confederal state of India. Amendment in Article 370 shall be a great honour to both Maharaja Hari Singh and Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah.
