California: December 4, 2015. (PCP) The American Sikh Council is extremely saddened at the horrific crime and senseless shooting by two assailants at a party in the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, CA yesterday. Fourteen innocent people were killed and twenty one are seriously wounded as of today. The motive is still unknown but President Obama, stated this morning, that the shooting was possibly related to terrorism, but might also be workplace related. The Council offers its deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who have been taken away by this terrible tragedy. Our prayers are with the injured for a speedy and full recovery. May Almighty God lighten your burden, and grace you with hope and healing under these difficult circumstances. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of profound tragedy and grief. Sikhs are increasingly becoming the target of the Islamophobic hate crime and the American Sikh Council cautions Sikhs to be extremely vigilant in these times. The persons and their motives behind this heinous act are not fully yet known, but all Sikh Americans should be on their guard in public places. The Council humbly requests all member and non-member gurdwaras across the United States to be vigilant and inform the local law enforcement authorities immediately, of any suspicious activity. The Council is reaching out to the representatives of the Gurdwaras in North Hollywood and Riverside, CA to assist and help in any way they can.
