Sindh, Pakistan: The British Asian Christian Association has installed a new water pump in Misri village, Sindh, providing clean drinking water to vulnerable Christian and Hindu families. 

For years, women and girls were forced to walk long distances across unsafe fields to collect water from irrigation channels and stagnant ponds. Read previous appeal (here) 

The new pump has restored dignity, improved health, and relieved families from exhausting daily journeys for water. 

BACA is now appealing for support to build urgently needed washroom facilities for the community. 

A Community Living Without Safe Water 

Before the installation, residents of Misri village had no direct access to clean drinking water. 

Women and young girls were forced to walk long distances across open agricultural fields carrying heavy pots and buckets to collect water from an irrigation channel near a mango orchard. The exhausting daily journey exposed them to physical strain, health risks, and serious safety concerns. 

During periods when water flow in the irrigation channels slowed or stopped completely, families were left with no choice but to collect stagnant water from ponds formed in the channels — water that was often unsafe for drinking and household use. 

The need for help came to BACA through volunteer evangelist Daniyal after local resident Nadeem Masih contacted him having witnessed BACA’s previous water pump projects in nearby villages. 

After visiting the village and witnessing the conditions firsthand, Daniyal reported the urgent need for a safe and reliable water source. 

BACA Responds Swiftly 

Recognising the seriousness of the situation, BACA moved quickly to support the community. 

On 29th May 2026, a new water pump was successfully installed in Misri village, immediately transforming daily life for local families. 

Women and girls no longer need to travel dangerous routes carrying heavy water containers on their shoulders and backs. Families now have direct access to cool, clean, and safe drinking water within their own community. 

Nadeem Masih expressed his gratitude, saying: 

“We did not have a water pump in the village. We requested BACA and the water pump has been installed.” 

Sana Bibi also thanked BACA, sharing: 

“The water is cool and sweet in taste. I am very thankful to BACA.” 

She also highlighted another urgent need within the village: 

“Kindly construct a washroom facility for us as well.” 

Smiles of relief as the community receives safe drinking water close to home. 

The Next Urgent Need: Washroom Facilities 

While the installation of the water pump has brought enormous relief, the community still faces another serious challenge. 

Women and girls in Misri village currently have no proper washroom facilities and are forced to use open fields for sanitation. This becomes particularly dangerous and unhygienic during flooding and rainy seasons. 

BACA is now planning its next phase of support for the community: the construction of a washroom facility with two toilet units to help restore dignity, improve hygiene, and protect the health and safety of vulnerable women and children. 

The estimated cost for the washroom project is approximately £2000.
