New Delhi: Prof.Bhim Singh, Sr. Advocate & Executive Chairman of State Legal Aid Committee, J&K urged the Chief Justice of J&K High Court to invite the representatives of Lawyers’ Action Committee, Jammu to settle the genuine and legitimate issues raised by the lawyers. Prof.Bhim Singh, a Member of J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu joined 44 days old lawyers' dharna in solidarity with the eight point demands of Jammu advocates. The Jammu Lawyers’ Action Committee has raised eight issues urging the Chief Justice of J&K High Court which can be resolved by the Chief Justice in J&K High Court. These issues include immediate election to Bar Council to J&K which is still controlled by the High Court in spite of the judgment of the Supreme Court of India directing the High Court of J&K to hold J&K Bar Council election for four years' ago.

The Supreme Court has given its judgment on writ petition filed by Prof.Bhim Singh, Sr. Advocate and Member of Jammu Bar Association. The other important issues for which the High Court lawyers are sitting on dharna for 44 days include withdrawal of contempt initiated against the Jammu lawyers. The demands also include shifting back the registry of documents to judicial officers, immediate opening of consumer courts, opening locked bar rules of lawyers and shut sitting rooms of lawyers including the coffee house and opening all courts for physical entry of lawyers and resuming court hearings as it were earlier. The lawyers are also demanding that they should be allowed to submit hard copies of the cases before the courts. The bar rooms of the lawyers stand closed/locked and there is no space for the lawyers to sit.

Prof.Bhim Singh assured the lawyers' fraternity while he was speaking to them at their venue of the dharna in front of the High Court.

Prof.Bhim Singh urged the Chief Justice of J&K High Court to kindly call the representatives of Jammu Lawyers’ Action Committee and others whom the Chief Justice may wish to invite. Prof.Bhim Singh hoped that the Chief Justice, who is retiring in the first week of December, 2020 may be pleased to talk to the lawyers so that the issues raised by them are settled after ‘Heart to Heart’ Talk. He also hoped that Chief Justice Gita Mittal will be pleased to talk to the lawyers so that issues raised by them are resolved/settled amicably in her presence. He expressed hope that the Chief Justice shall be given a rousing farewell by the Jammu lawyers also and the Lawyers' Action Committee.  Prof.Bhim Singh also appealed the Chief Justice of J&K High Court to talk to the lawyers and find a reasonable and legitimate resolution of eight issues they have raised so that she shall not leave any bitter memory at the time of farewell. Prof.Bhim Singh while talking to the lawyers’ fraternity in the High Court assured that he will take up this matter with Chief Justice of India and the Union Law Minister, if need be.

Prof.Bhim Singh expressed his gratitude to the lawyers’ fraternity and particularly those who addressed the lawyers including M/s. Bansi Lal Sharma, Jamil Qadri, H.C. Jalmeria, A.K.Sahani and others. He assured the lawyers’ fraternity that he shall not fail to convey Jammu lawyers’ message to the Chief Justice of India and even to the President of India.
