Mandi Bahauddin: (Sher Gondal) Ex-servicemen from Chakwal and neighboring districts gathered in hundreds at Dlailpur village in Chakwal district the other day and held a rally demanding justice for ex-SSG Commando Naik Arshad who was cold-bloodedly murdered by an ASI accompanied by six police constables of Choa Saiden Shah Police, during the month of Ramadan on midnight 4/5 May the previous month.
Naik Arshad deceased had no charge against him and was innocent. His offense was just that he was a whistleblower against the corruption of some police personnel.
The rally was addressed by senior member PESS Ex SSG General Haroon Islam, Senior Vice President Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Society (PESS) Major Gen Javed Aslam Tahir, and Secretary-General PESS Colonel Naseem Raja. In their speeches they said ex-servicemen respect all national institutions including police and believe in their integrity and patriotism. However, like every department police also have in it black sheep and corrupt elements.
They said ex-servicemen strongly condemn those policemen who committed the gruesome and tragic murder of Naik Arshad at night in front of his wife and small kids. “This is unbearable and we will go to the last limit for getting justice for the deceased and his family”, they added.
It may be mentioned that at the time of incidence DPO Chakwal promised to arrange judicial inquiry and do complete justice to provide relief to the bereaved family. However, he did not stand to his words and gave false color to the incident of police encounter to save his subordinate police personnel involved in the murder of the ex-commando. Despite repeated requests police have not registered FIR so far. Earlier the ex-servicemen visited the grave of the deceased; they offered Fatehkhawni and placed wreaths on the grave.
