Honourable Prime Minister of Pakistan, Prime Minister House, Islamabad. Pakistan. December 28, 2002 Dear Sir, First of all I want to take this opportunity to congratulate you for being elected Prime Minister Of Pakistan. I pray

Moreover, it is interesting to know that you have been renowned player of hockey. We genuinely expect that you shall also show sportsman spirit in the game of politics.

Dear Sir I am writing this note to draw your attention to the killings of innocent Christians living in Pakistan. This is not the first time that Christians have been killed in Pakistan. They have been killed and butchered merciless in the past year. Each time government of Pakistan has issued ritual statements condemning the killing but unfortunately no effort has been made to bring the culprits to the book. It has been practice in the past that government officials have been very active in giving impression to international media that government is very much careful and concerned about the security of Christian minority in Pakistan but practically nothing has been done. Past record of performance substantiates our understanding. Police officials make routine announcements that culprits have been identified saying that they belong to some fanatic group of Muslims. This action is taken to satisfy Christian community and other countries of the world that government is taking every measure to stop killing of Christians. In fact, real culprits are not arrested at the first place and if arrests are made, those are staged to cover inefficiency of the government. They are not presented in front of international media. Their identification is never verified. Police officers play psychological game with the minds of Christians living in Pakistan and abroad. This is an effort on their part to show their efficiency and to off set international pressure exerted on government to stop killings of innocent Christians.

Christians have been killed on various occasions even during their worship meetings. This is a matter of great concern to Christian community that those who claim to be true Pakistanis and Muslims behave like merciless butchers. Is this "peace", which is preached by Islam? If it is not then why culprits are given less punishment for killing Christians? According to Christian community they deserve double punishment but unfortunately they are awarded half of the sentence contrary to the sentence, normally given to ordinary culprits. Why? Are they doing something remarkable for our country? They take law in their hands, kill innocent Christians and government of Pakistan is busy only in issuing press statements. Had the government of Pakistan been sincere in arresting real culprits and taken steps seriously nobody would have dared to kill innocent Christians. In the light of present situation, Christian community is justified in her thinking that government is taking side with Muslims fanatics and ignoring the rights of Christian community absolutely. Christian community is unable to understand why Killers of Christians are not hanged openly in public. Why there is double standard in the treatment of minorities? Why Christians are denied their equal rights in spite of clear-cut assurance given by founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.

Recent attack on Church near Daska where 3 innocent girls have been killed and more than dozen worshipers have been severely hurt is living evidence of the fact that government is no more capable to provide security and protection to the lives and property of Christian community. Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah said it repeatedly that any government incapable to maintain law and order has no right to stay in power. How do you evaluate the performance of your government in the light of recent attack? Why government did not take extra measure to ensure the safety of Christians and their worship places? Government of Pakistan cannot make excuses anymore saying that police do not have modern and sophisticated weapons to fight against terrorism. United States of America has recently provided all needed equipment and weapons for this purpose.

May I ask respectfully why Pakistani Christians are killed mercilessly? Did they invite United States of America and Allied forces to fight against terrorism? It was government of Pakistan, which chose to help United States of America and Allied forces in the best interest of country. Then why Christians are held responsible for the actions of government of Pakistan? If government of Pakistan cannot do anything to stop bloodshed, then she does not have a right to govern. May I remind you the words of our leader Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah?

"You are free; you are free to go to your temples, you are free to go to your mosques or to any other place of worship in this state of Pakistan. You may belong to any religion or caste or creed that has nothing to do with the business of the State."

May we expect during your era, we shall be able to see practical manifestation of Quaid-e-Azam's words and being sincere and devout follower of Quaid-e-Azam you would not let anyone to tamper his words. Your actions shall prove that.

Christian community demands that real culprits to be arrested immediately and hanged in public so that nobody could dare to kill innocent Christian minorities in future. Their lives, properties, faith and respect must be protected. They must be given freedom to preach and practice Christianity freely. Christians must be given equal rights honouring the words of late Quaid-eAzam Mohammad Ali Jinnah. All discriminatory laws including 295c must be abolished immediately. Every citizen of Pakistan regardless to his faith, creed and cast must be given equal rights according to the assurance of our leader Mohammad Ali Jinnah. Anybody who has right to cast vote must have right to contest for any position in government whether it is a premiership or president ship. Distortion and misinterpretation of Qaudi-e-Azams statement must be declared a crime and anyone found guilty must be given capital punishment. Victims of the families must be compensated immediately.

May God bless you and give you wisdom to guide our country in difficult circumstances.

Yours sincerely,

Rev.Dr.Rashid Gill
