Beneficiaries of the disputes in the Church of Pakistan. By: Julius Danish

The disputes in the Church of Pakistan are at their peak and some even say that the anti-climax of Bishop Malik and his group has started. The members of the Church of Pakistan especially the members of the Lahore, Karachi,

Peshawar and Hyderabad Dioceses are well aware of all the disputes (within the Church of Pakistan), constitutional and legal position of Bishop Alexander John Malik as Moderator, Rev. Sadiq Daniel as the Bishop of Karachi Diocese, Rev. Rafique Masih as the Bishop of Hyderabad Diocese and Mr. Mano Romal Shah as the Bishop of Peshawar Diocese as well as now they have started to understand that all this has been initiated on the instigations of the Western Partners of the Church of Pakistan. Sadly the role of the former Archbishop of Canterbury was in contradiction to the constitution of the Church of Pakistan as well as the Word of God (at the time when he sent his recommendations to the High Court of Sindh). The members of the Church of Pakistan were at one stage getting double minded, when Rev. Sadiq Daniel’s name was removed from the web site of the Anglican Communion but now they are once again in the state of lack of confidence in the office of the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Anglican Communion who are ignoring the constitution of the Church of Pakistan, decisions of the Courts and the vote of decent of the majority of the members of the Church of Pakistan (who says that the Church of Pakistan is a democratic Church and its Bishops have been elected by it’s members). They say that being a democratic Church system the members in majority must be heard and their vote of decent must not be ignored by the Western Partners and the Anglican Communion. The members of the CoP says that whenever it matters to facilitate Bishop Malik and his group, the Anglican Communion owns the Church of Pakistan as a United Church but whenever situation seems to be against Bishop Malik or his group, the Anglican Communion disowns the whole Church of Pakistan by saying that the Anglican Communion do not have jurisdiction over the internal affairs of the Church of Pakistan, on the other hand the Anglican Communion is projecting Bishop Malik as the Primate of the Church of Pakistan (knowingly that the High Court has restrained Bishop Malik and his so-called from acting and claiming themselves as the Synod of the CoP). How does the Anglican Communion say that they do not support Bishop Malik and his group; when they are intentionally committing Contempt of Court by projecting Bishop Malik, his so-called Synod and his group members on the official web site of the Anglican Communion (by recognizing their illegal, unconstitutional and disputed titles)? Now the members of the Church of Pakistan has started asking that whom the Church of England, Anglican Communion and Partner organizations supports and united with?

1. The Church of Pakistan and its Members?

OR

2. Bishop Alexander John Malik and his group?

Most of the Clergy all over the Church of Pakistan are complaining that during all these disputes in the Church of Pakistan the attendance of the congregation in the Churches is declining rapidly. They say that approximately more 40% of the members of the Church of Pakistan have left the Church of Pakistan during these times of crisis and it is feared that in the days to come more members will leave the Church of Pakistan. They Clergy (Pastors) say that the members are leaving CoP because of two main reasons:-

1. Because of the Bishops of the Church of Pakistan, whose activities are well known to the members of the Church of Pakistan, the most senior Bishop of the Church of Pakistan (Bishop Dr. Alexander John Malik) is presently known as the most disputed person in the Church of Pakistan and its main reason is that the members of the CoP held him responsible and financer of all these disputes in the CoP.

2. The second main reason is that the members of the Church of Pakistan recognize Western Partners and the Anglican Communion as the facilitators of Bishop Alexander John Malik. Because the members of the CoP think that the Western Partners are supporting and projecting Bishop Malik and his group on purpose. The members of the CoP say that the Anglican Communion also provides funds to these illegal and anti-Church elements and there must be some hidden agenda of Western World and for that Inter serve, USPG, CPMP-F and other funding agencies are providing funds to this group of culprits to fight their cases.

The Clergy is complaining that the small Churches and Missions working in Pakistan are exploiting the disputes amongst the Bishops of the Church of Pakistan and the illustrious character of the leadership of the CoP, to attract its members. Since a couple of months a number of Churches has started campaigns to visit the members of the Church of Pakistan door to door and it is feared that these campaigns will further damage the reputation of the Church of Pakistan as well as it may further decline the membership of the Church of Pakistan.

At the time when the Church Property Sellers Association of the Church of Pakistan is busy in selling the properties of the Church of Pakistan under the Moderator ship of the so-called Moderator of the Church of Pakistan (The Rt. Rev. Dr. Alexander John Malik) all over Pakistan, Bishops are busy in fighting their cases, clergy is free to do whatever they ever wished because they are supporting their Bishops in their extra constitutional activities, Western Partners are funding their hidden agendas who is going to take benefit from this situation and crisis?
